Bellator 84: Quick Results

Bellator’s last event of season 7 and last ever show on MTV2 before moving to Spike TV ran into last minute problems for the second week in a row.

Last week the main event featherweight tourney final between Marcin Held and Dave Jansen had to be cancelled after one of the fighters fell ill with food poisoning on the day of the fight, and last night the lightweight final was nixed due to Held not being allowed to fight at the casino venue due to the fact he’s only 20 years-old.

Speaking about the situation afterwards Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney indicated that every cloud has a silver lining, noting that the fight would now be postponed until season 8 on Spike TV where it could well be seen by “10 to 15 times more audience, knock on wood.”

Thankfully the main event heavyweight final did go ahead with Alexander Volkov becoming the next champion with a convincing decision win over Rich Hale.
