Bellator 89: TV Ratings

Bellator 89 on Thursday night drew an average of 719,000 viewers on Spike TV.

That’s the second lowest audience so far the promotion since their move to Spike TV and also saw a drop to 0.4 in the 18-49 demographic, but it’s still a relatively solid rating five weeks into the current season.

If there’s a real disappointment here it’s that the fact that they aired a bantamweight title fight in the main event didn’t help bolster the ratings.

There’s now enough data in from the previous weeks to indicate that Bellator aren’t going to enjoy the same ratings that the UFC did during their tenure on the channel – for the time being at least – but nevertheless they are carving out a solid niche for themselves and assuming the ratings stay within the 700 – 900,000 range in the coming weeks that gives them a good foundation to build from in the future.
