Bellator 99 Results

Bellator 99 took place last night and we’ve got all the results for you below.

In the main event Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire brought former UFC fighter Diego Nunes debut to a surprisingly swift conclusion with a knockout victory in just 79 seconds.

Nunes made a major error in judgement by charging after ‘Pitbull’ with his hands down by his sides and was punished with a flush left hook to the jaw that crumpled him to the canvas and that was that!

Nunes was one of Bellator’s best signings this year, but it was always going to be a tough night against Freire and like ‘King Mo’ last season he’s got his career in the promotion off to the worst possible start.

Joining Freire in the featherweight semi-finals are Desmond Green and Andrew Fisher who picked up unanimous decision victories on the main card, while Justin Wilcox makes up the quartet after a second round guillotine choke handed him a victory over Akop Stepanyan.

Another new recruit from the UFC, Valdimir Matyushenko faired better than Nunes in the co-main event, earning a unanimous decision victory over Houston Alexander.

This wasn’t an underwhelming encounter with little action, but Matyushenko’s wrestling and the occasional decent punch enabled him to get the better of this battle of the veterans.
