The 10th and final episode of Bellator: Fight Master drew an average of 558,000 viewers this past Thursday night on Spike TV.
That’s up 19,000 viewers from the previous week’s show and makes it the fourth most watched episode of the season.
So, the ratings did manage to stabilize after the move to 11pm on Thursday night’s, benefiting greatly from having TNA Wrestling (which drew 1.24 million viewers) as a lead-in.
Now the season’s over with the finalists set to feature on a future Bellator show to establish the overall winner.
The future of the show remains in doubt at this stage. It’s not cheap to produce a reality show like this (bear in mind that The Ultimate Fighter Season 1 cost $10 million to make), so the lackluster ratings we’ve seen throughout the debut season here might not be enough to encourage Spike TV / Viacom to dip into their pockets again.
The most important thing for Bellator right now is how their live events are doing. They really need to hit the ground running when the new ninth season launches next week, and interestingly, the premiere will actually land on a Saturday night before the rest of the season moves to a potentially difficult Friday night slot on Spike TV’s calender.
