Bellator continue to roll out the line-ups for their upcoming second season which begins on April 8th, and the latest tournament to be unveiled features the lightweights.

Of course much of the buzz surrounding the lightweight tournament will be generated by former UFC fighter Roger Huerta, and he gets the ball rolling for the first round match-ups with a fight against the 6-0 Chad Hinton who is a relatively late bloomer to professional fighting at 36 years of age.

Meanwhile a product of Greg Jackson’s training camp, Carey Vanier (7-2) takes on Finnish M-1 Challenge veteran Janne Tulirinta (12-3) in the second of the scheduled fixtures.

Elsewhere Pat Curran, cousin of MMA veteran Jeff Curran looks to improve upon his 9-3 record against the undefeated Mike Ricci (5-0) who GSP’s trainer Firas Zahabi claims could be Canada’s “next big thing.”

The final match-up in the opening round pairs off two of the most experienced fighters in the tournament, judo stylist Ferrid Kheder (16-5) and season 1 runner-up Toby Imada (23-13), who’s inverted triangle choke on Jorge Misvidal at Bellator V earned him numerous ‘Submission Of The Year’ awards.

The eventual winner of the tournament will go on to fight Bellator’s current lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez for the title.
