Bellator have made a somewhat surprising announcement that two of it’s seasoned campaigners Dan Hornbuckle and Wilson Reis have been cut from the promotion.
Hornbuckle first competed for Bellator in their second season welterweight tournament and made it all the way to the final after picking up two quick submission victories before coming undone against Ben Askren.
He then beat former UFC fighter Brad Blackburn to earn a spot in the season four tournament, but failed to get past the quarter final stages.
Nevertheless he was back for this season’s 170lb tournament and again failed to get past the opening round, leading to his release. He leaves with an overall Bellator record of 3-3 and is now 25-3 for his career overall.
Meanwhile Reis has been involved with Bellator since their second event and made it to the semi-finals of their featherweight tournaments on three separate occasions.
This season he competed in their bantamweight tournament, but was defeated in the opening round. He departs with a 5-4 Bellator record, 12-4 for his career overall.
