Bellator’s Season 6 premiere (AKA Bellator 60) drew an average of 169,000 viewers to MTV2 for it’s two hour live broadcast on Friday night.

That figure may come as a disappointment to both the network and the promotion who had purposefully switched this series broadcast date from it’s traditional Saturday night slot to a Friday in the hopes of avoiding competition from the likes of the UFC and Strikeforce.

Unfortunately the plan backfired as the UFC are also now airing their new ‘Ultimate Fighter: Live’ show on FX weekly on Friday nights, while Spike TV are counter-programming them with footage of old series of TUF.

Therefore it seems to be pretty much business as usual as far as Bellator ratings go with Friday’s numbers being comparable with those seen for previous seasons on MTV2.

TUF will be moving back to 10pm ET from this Friday onwards however which will give Bellator more breathing room in it’s 8-10.15pm time slot.
