BJ Penn Lashes Out At PED Use In Mixed Martial Arts

Former UFC Lightweight and welterweight champion BJ Penn has lashed out at MMA fighters who use performance enhancing drugs hours after Nate Marquardt revealed that he had failed a medical prior to this past weekend’s ‘UFC On Versus 4’ event after tests showed he had elevated levels of testosterone.

Like Chael Sonnen, who found himself in a similiar predicament last year, Marquardt claimed that he had been diagnosed by his doctor as having low testosterone and therefore had embarked on a program of Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

Speaking on his Twitter page earlier today Penn let his feelings be known on the matter, and made it clear he thinks that certain fighters are trying to cheat the system.

“All this testosterone replacement therapy stuff is total BS,” Penn wrote. “A true martial artist would never consider cheating! Fighter on roids = blue collar crime. Coaches of fighters on roid = white collar crime.

“Everyone has to come together and get this “ped” cancer out of our sport! If you can’t do it of carbs , fats, protein and vitamins and minerals you’re weak!”
