After a very close fight at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi it now looks as if BJ Penn will get an immediate rematch against the new lightweight champion Frankie Edgar in just a few months time.

According to FightersOnly the UFC have earmarked the rematch for the promotions first visit to Boston on August 28th for UFC 118.

Just days after their first meeting Penn admitted he was seeking a second fight with Edgar as soon as possible.  The new champ was less enthusiastic about the idea at the time, pointing instead towards a potential rematch with the only man to beat him in his career, Gray Maynard instead.

Though nothing has been officially announced yet I do believe there’s a good chance Maynard will be on the card however.  Kenny Florian is a Boston native who has made no secret of his desire to fight in his home town, and Maynard makes perfect sense as his next opponent, with the winner likely to be awarded the next title shot.
