Update: Despite the fact that the Lashley Vs Hague fight was announced on the Shark Fights 21 official Twitter page, the promotion have now stated that it will not be happening after all so the hunt for an opponent for Lashley continues.
After Bobby Lashley’s original Shark Fights 21 opponent Darrill Schoonover pulled out due to injury, another former UFC fighter Tim Hague has now been drafted in to replace him.
Shark Fights announced the news on their Twitter page on Sunday and confirmed that the bout will be for the Shark Fights heavyweight title on November 11th in Texas.
On reflection this has actually proven to be a change for the better, with Hague definitely a step up the ladder from Schoonover and will provide Lashley with a decent test.
Hague first entered the UFC in 2009 and immediately picked up a submission win over Pat Barry. He hasn’t been able to replicate that feat since however, picking up three losses in a row before briefly being released from the promotion and then returning this year only to lose again to Matt Mitrione.
Nevertheless the heavyweight fighter has got back to winning way with a submission win last month to go 13-5 in his career to date, and now has the chance to fight a notable name and put himself back in the spotlight.
For former pro-wrestler Lashley, ‘The Trashing Machine’ represents arguably his toughest test to date and a victory could lend him some much needed credbility after a somewhat underwhelming MMA career thus far.
