Ex pro-wrestling star Bobby Lashley was set to be one of the main attractions at Strikeforce: LA on June 16th, but an injury has forced the promotion to change their plans.
Lashley is believed to have damaged his knee in training and that will keep him out of his proposed bout with Ron Sparks.
With that fight scrapped Strikeforce have instead moved quickly to replace it with a middleweight encounter between Tim Kennedy and veteran Trevor Prangley.
Under the circumstances with only around two weeks to go until the event it’s a decent replacement, but no doubt the promotion will be disappointed not to have Lashley’s star power on the card. Lashley’s WWE past has helped make him somewhat of a draw for them, and he had been placed front and center in the promotional campaign for the June event up until this point.
Now they’ll have to lean more heavily on their headline fight, a potentially explosive encounter between Robbie Lawler and Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral, to attract fans attention to the card.
The Los Angeles show comes just 10 days before another major strikeforce card headlined by Fedor Emelianenko Vs Fabricio Werdum.
