The UFC are making some significant cuts to their roster in early 2020 with a list of nine fighters now known to have been shown the exit door by the promotion.
The full list includes the likes of Brad Katona, Ben Saunders, Junior Albini, Nathan Coy, Brandon Davis, Kalindra Faria, Grigori Popov, Ji Soon Son and Daniel Spitz.
Of all the fighters named, the most surprising has to be Ireland’s Brad ‘Superman’ Katona, who was the winner of TUF Season 27.
After that Katona had gone on to register another win against Matthew Lopez to take his career record to 8-0, and though he has since dropped losses to Merab Dvalishvili and Hunter Azure, the 28-year-old still seemed like someone who was worthy of another chance to prove himself in the Octagon.
The other most notable name on the list is long-time UFC veteran Ben Saunders, although it’s no big surprise that he has been released given that the 36-year-old has now lost his last four fights in a row, with the last three coming by way of either KO or TKO.
In total, Saunders bows out of the UFC for the third time in his career with an overall record of nine wins and ten losses.
