Former WEC fighter Brad Pickett will have to wait a little longer for his UFC debut as the always entertaining Brit has had to pull out of his UFC 130 fight with Miguel Torres due to an undisclosed injury.
Torres isn’t being let off the hook though as he’s moved from facing one tough opponent in Pickett to another in Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson.
It’s worth noting that Pickett did beat Johnson by decision in the WEC back a year ago, but since then Johnson has been in terrific form with three wins in a row, including in his UFC debut earlier in the year against Japanese star ‘Kid’ Yamamoto.
There’s no question that his face paced style and lightning quick takedowns could pose a problem for former Bantamweight champion Torres who’s successfully managed to steady his own ship after back-to-back losses, and has now won his last two fights as he looks to get back into title contention.
The move is good news for Johnson who was originally scheduled to fight further down the UFC 130 fight card, but will now move up to the hour long Spike TV prelim broadcast.
