Brad Tavares Vs Robert Whittaker To Co-Main Event UFC Fight Night 65

A middleweight encounter between Brad Tavares and Robert Whittaker has been announced as the co-main event for UFC Fight Night 65 in Adelaide, Australia on May 10th.

Tavares rebounded from a two-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision victory against Nate Marquardt at UFC 182 in January and holds a very respectable 8-3 record overall since joining the UFC in 2010 as a cast-member of TUF season 11.

Whittaker was the winner of the TUF: The Smashes in 2012 and has so far gone 4-2 during his time in the Octagon. He initially fought as a welterweight, but for his last fight he made his debut at middleweight and came away with a TKO victory against Clint Hester, his second win in a row.

Tavares has fought the tougher competition so far in his MMA career and is currently ranked at No.15 in the division, while Whittaker will have the home advantage for the UFC’s first visit to South Australia’s capital city.

Several other fights have now been announced for the UFC Fight Night 65 event including Anthony Perosh Vs Sean O’ Connell, James Vick Vs Jake Matthews and Bec Rawlings Vs Seo Hee Ham.

The event will be headlined by a heavyweight bout as Mark Hunt faces up to Stipe Miocic and is expected to air on the UFC’s Fight Pass subscription service.
