Brandon Vera was cut from the UFC at the turn of the year after a loss to Thiago Silva, his third defeat in a row, but in a twist of fate it appears that he may now be set for a swift return.

According to the MMAJunkie site, the result of that fight is set to be overturned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission to a ‘no contest’ in the near future, with an alleged positive drugs test from his opponent believed to be the reason behind the decision.

With that in mind it’s believed that the UFC will now reverse their decision to remove Vera from the light-heavyweight roster.

It’s likely to have been an easy decision for the promotion to make. Though Vera has struggled to live up to his early potential, he’s still a good fighter, and remains popular with the fans.

At this stage there’s no indication of who he’ll face when he returns. Personally I like the sound of Vera Vs Tito Ortiz, a true ‘loser leaves town’ match-up if ever there was one.
