Bad news people, UFC 137 headliner Georges St.Pierre has pulled out of his latest title fight against Carlos Condit at UFC 137 on October 29th.
Dana White broke the story himself via his Twitter account just moments ago.
“I just land in NYC and what do I always say!? I have to deal with bad shit everyday!! GSP is out with an injury!!! #oneofthosedays,” White stated.
The UFC president later confirmed that it was an injury to St.Pierre’s knee that forced him out of the contest. At this stage it’s too early to tell when he may be back, though White speculated that it’s possible he could be fit again in two months.
This is a devastating blow for what was set to be one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year. Luckily the promotion do have the good fortune to have a ready-made headliner already present on the card, with BJ Penn Vs Nick Diaz unquestionably worthy of main event status.
White has now clarified that Penn Vs Diaz will be the new main event, and all going well the plan is still to have GSP Vs Condit to fight for the title at a later date.
