Brian Bowles Suspended For Elevated Levels Of Testerone Following UFC 160

Former WEC bantamweight champion Brian Bowles has been suspended after being flagged for elevated levels of testosterone following UFC 160.

Bowles was found to have an exceptionally high 20:1 T/E ratio whereas fighters are supposed to have no higher than a 6:1 ratio. As a comparison, Chael Sonnen’s T/E ratio was 17:1 and Alistair Overeem’s was 14:1 when they were suspended.

Despite his testosterone use Bowles ended up losing his UFC 160 fight with George Roop by second round TKO last month.

That had been Bowles first fight in a year and half due to a mixture of injuries and what he described pre-fight as a lack of desire to train for a period of time, before apparently rediscovering his enthusiasm for it.

Now the 32 year-old faces another year on the sidelines through suspension and a fine to go with it.
