Several MMA fighter’s have released their biographies in recent years, but you’d be hard pushed to find many with a more impressive and inspirational story to tell than the UFC’s Brian Stann.
A bonafide war hero, Stann served his country on the frontlines in Iraq as a marine and came home with a Silver Star medal for his actions on the battlefield during an infamous battle during Operation Matador which made headline news and would later be revisited in a Discovery channel documentary.
Stann would then go on to pursue a career in MMA and proved he could fight as well inside the cage as out of it as he became the WEC’s lightweight champion before being drafted into the UFC where he fights today.
A book of Stann’s remarkable life was released earlier this week, titled, Heart for the Fight: A Marine Hero’s Journey from the Battlefields of Iraq to Mixed Martial Arts Champion.
In all good stores now, needless to say it’s a must read for all mixed martial arts fans.
