Following on from today’s unexpected announcement that Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos will coach The Ultimate Fighter Season 13, more details have now emerged about what will happen after the show has aired.

The TUF 13 finale will air on the 4th of June, and The UFC have announced that Lesnar and Dos Santos will then square off on a PPV event later that same month.

Despite the fact that current champion Cain Velasquez is currently out injured for much of 2011 the fight will not however be for the interim belt.

Instead the winner will then become the No.1 contender to fight Velasquez when he has returned to full fitness.

Lesnar has not fought since being convincingly beaten by Velasquez in October at UFC 123, bringing an end to a four fight winning streak in which he defeated Randy Couture to claim the heavyweight title, and defended it against both Frank Mir and Shane Carwin.

Meanwhile Junior Dos Santos was until today the undisputed No.1 contender in the heavyweight division having gone on a seven fight unbeaten run since joining the promotion in October of 2008, defeating the likes of Fabricio Werdum, Mirko Cro Cop, Gabriel Gonzaga and Roy Nelson along the way.

With Velasquez out injured, the Brazilian stated he wanted to fight again rather than wait, and he’s been granted his wish, though he will risk his No.1 contender status to do so.

The chance to enjoy the increased exposure and publicity that comes with coaching on The Ultimate Fighter, and with a blockbuster fight with Lesnar to look forward to at the end of it seems like a worthwhile trade however.
