At one time best known for his world class Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills, winning multiple titles in the sport during his career, lately Rodrigo ‘Comprido’ Mederios is becoming better known for being Brock Lesnar’s BJJ coach.

In Lesnar’s last fight, a grueling encounter with Shane Carwin, Lesnar finished the fight with an arm triangle, and afterwards thanked Comprido for teaching it to him.

It turned out that the Brazilian had been drilling the choke with Lesnar constantly before the fight, and despite being most recognized for his wrestling abilities, in the heat of the battle the heavyweight champion found the perfect opportunity to use it.

“I knew sooner or later Brock (Lesnar) would use that choke, I just didn’t know it would be so soon,” Comprido tells Chicago’s MMA in a new interview prior to Lesnar’s latest fight at UFC 121 later this month.

According to Comprido, despite Lesnar’s success in the sport so far, the former pro-wrestler isn’t resting on his laurels.

“Brock Lesnar is a great student. He is someone who is hungry for knowledge. He’s at the top of the sport but he’s just doing MMA for a little time. So he still has so much to improve.”

Comprido believes that his dedication will be the key to his longevity in the sport.

“He will improve and he will achieve his goals. I believe he will be on top of that hill for a long long time.”
