Chad Griggs made short work of Valentijn Overeem tonight in the opening fight of the Strikeforce: Overeem Vs Werdum main card.
Griggs looked to tie up Overeem against the cage early, and when his opponent looked to counter by taking him down he nicely reversed it and had Overeem on his back.
From there it was all Griggs as he created some distance and started hammering down punches. It quickly became clear that Overeem’s heart just wasn’t in the fight as he turned and covered up, before tapping as the blows kept coming.
Despite the tap it’s officially given as a TKO with just 2.08mins on the clock, and hands Griggs his third win under the Strikeforce banner.
As for Overeem, this display indicates that it may well be time for him to hang up his gloves.
