Chad Mendes Demolishes Cody McKenzie In 31 Seconds At UFC 148

Chad Mendes wasted no time in demolishing Cody McKenzie tonight at UFC 148.

McKenzie had tried a few telegraphed kicks in the opening stages of the fight, and that was to quickly prove to be his undoing as Mendes was able to catch one and then ripped a punch straight to his liver that dropped the former TUF competitor.

The blow completely took the wind out of McKenzie’s sails and allowed Mendes to follow up with ground and pound strikes on his turtled up opponent before the referee stepped in to bring an end to the contest with just 31 seconds on the clock.

This always looked like being a straightforward win for Mendes, but nontheless he’ll be delighted to have finished him so easily and the former No.1 contender will surely now be back to fighting bigger name opponents next time out.

As for McKenzie, he may be the most one-dimensional fighter on the roster and with a 2-3 record in the UFC overall he may now be on borrowed time in the UFC.
