While not yet official a fight between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva is now almost certain to happen later this year, and the two rivals have wasted no time in commencing with the pre-fight trash-talking antics.
“The real man talk face to face! Let’s go!” Silva wrote to Sonnen on Twitter after the outspoken fighter called him out during an appearance on the ‘UFC Tonight’ show on Fuel TV earlier this week.
Naturally Sonnen wasn’t shy about responding in a less than charitable fashion from the relative safety of his own Twitter account.
“IN YOUR CASE, WANDERLEI, ISN’T IT “REAL MEN MUMBLE FACE TO FACE?” Sonnen quipped, before adding, “Isn’t THAT what you mean, you fool?”
While nothing’s official yet the rumor is that Sonnen Vs Silva could land on the UFC’s first event on FOX Sports 1 in August which Dana White recently vowed would be the biggest show they’ve ever put on TV.
There’s no doubt that the rivalry between these two which stems back several years would generate a lot of interest in the event, though if this really is to be as big a show as Dana would have us believe then I’m not convinced it will fit the bill as the main event.
