After the MMA equivalent of musical chairs, it’s now finally been established that Brendan Schaub will in fact face PRIDE legend Mirko Cro Cop next.

Schaub had originally been targeted to fight former heavyweight champion Frank Mir, then in recent days was instead earmarked for rising star Stefan Struve.  For reasons that currently remain unclear both of those fights have now been scrapped and Cro Cop has been drafted in instead.

The bout is expected to take place at UFC 128 on March 19th, an event headlined by the light-heavyweight title fight between Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and Rashad Evans.

Cro Cop needs a strong performance against Schaub after putting in a disappointing display against Mir last time out at UFC 119, which ended with him being KO’d in the third round.

Meanwhile Schaub will be looking to build on his current three fight winning streak and add another well known name to his hit-list after defeating Gabriel Gonzaga last time out.
