For some time UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has been suffering from a broken finger which occurred during training for his title fight with Joseph Benavidez in August.

Rather than cancel the fight he decided to postpone the surgery, and only after winning a five round title fight against Scott Jorgensen at the WEC’s final event in December did he finally make the decision to go under the knife.

Yesterday Cruz underwent surgery to repair the damage and will now be unable to participate in contact training for three months.  Current estimates suggest he won’t be ready to make his UFC debut until the summer.

Today Cruz posted a picture of his hand 15 hours after surgery, and from where I’m sitting it now looks like a prop from a Frankenstein movie.

On the bright side, if his hand were to stay that size he’d have a hell of a left hook.  The downside is that he’d probably have to fight at heavyweight as that thing must weigh a good 100lbs on it’s own!

It must hurt like hell, but, for the time being at least, Cruz is oblivious to it.

“the doc’s got me pumped full of the pain meds that michael jackson od’d on,n Now im levitating right now like chris angel!  I know his secret!”
