In a new interview Chuck Liddell has hinted at the real reason Tito Ortiz pulled out of their fight which was due to happen at UFC 115 after the culmination of The Ultimate Fighter Season 11.

“He really pissed me off cos he knew ahead of time he wasn’t going to fight me for the show. I think he knew.”

He then went on to elaborate on why he came to that conclusion.

“In a press thing right before [the show] he said something in an interview. And then less than two weeks into it I got some of the guys on the show from his team saying that he was talking about, ‘oh I got to have surgery before I fight Chuck,’ or whatever…so he had already planned on pulling out long before the show started.”

As well as putting an interesting new twist in the story, Liddell’s comments also seem to confirm that it was indeed an injury that was the reason Ortiz was forced to quit the show and their planned fight.

Now Liddell will face Rich Franklin instead as the main event of UFC 115 which takes place on June 12th in Vancouver, Canada.
