After a four week run on prime-time TV via ABC’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’ show, Chuck Liddell was voted off, and is now discarding his dancing shoes and looking to get back into the gym. Many fans and pundits are speculating that it’s only a matter of time until he returns to what he knows best – fighting in the UFC, despite pressure from Dana White to officially retire.
Speaking today on The Savage Dog Show on sherdog.com, Liddell spoke about his current situation, and admitted he isn’t ruling out a return to the octagon.
“I still love fighting. I don’t know what we’re going to come up with. I’m going to start spending a lot of time training guys or get back in there –- one of the two.”
It also appears that Liddell knows exactly where he’ll find the answer to the questions over his future that have been asked countless times since his defeat to Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua back in April.
“(White) wants me to look at it, to see how I feel in the gym. I always told him, I want to make that decision in the gym, so I want to get back there and move around with some people and see how I feel. If I feel good, I’m going to keep fighting to come back.”
As to who he might face if he does return, ‘The Iceman” is less than excited at the name that has been suggested by various sources in recent times – Kimbo Slice.
“Why would anyone even want to see me fight Kimbo?” he says. “I have no interest in that fight. Whatever. It is what it is. I guess I’d do it, if that’s who I had to fight to come back.”
