Conor McGregor Indicates He Will Vacate A Title After UFC 205

Conor McGregor Post Fight

For the first time, featherweight champion Conor McGregor has indicated that he would be willing to vacate one of his titles if he defeats lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 – but there is one condition.

UFC president Dana White had already publicly stated that McGregor would have to vacate one of his titles if he wins, but McGregor had appeared to claim otherwise at a UFC 205 press conference in New York City just a few weeks ago that, “they are going to need a f***ing army to take those belts off of me.”

However, in a new interview McGregor appears to have changed his tune, but he still wants to bask in the glory first if he does manage to hold two titles at the same time.

“Let me see the pictures on publications with a belt on each shoulder first,” McGregor told Sports Illustrated. “Let me go onto the side of that Octagon and raise two world titles, what’s never been done before, before talking about stripping me. Let me get the f—— things, let me do it.

“I’ll always listen to the correct business move and I’ll always do what is the correct move, but let me do it and let me go back and look at some pictures of me with two belts and let me embrace it for half-a-day.”

A fighter always has to have goals to strive for to keep them motivated, and with McGregor already having become a champion, in addition to having become a multi-millionaire and smashed the UFC’s pay-per-view record on two occasions already in 2016, he needs something else to focus on – and it seems he has his heart set on being the first fighter to hold two titles at the same time.

“I’m just looking forward to raising the belts, and doing what has not been done before. Don’t be trying to take away the historic moment before I’ve even experienced it.”
