The UFC’s Corey Hill will continue his road back to the octagon after a devastating leg break in December of 2008 with a fight on Pay Per View at XKL Evolution 1 on March 20th.
His opponent for the fight, which will be for the XKL Lightweight Championship, is Mark Holst, a 7-1 prospect from Canada who, like Hill, is tall for 155lbs at 6ft. That will still leaves him four inches short of the former TUF season 5 competitor though.
After his career threatening injury Hill made a successful return to MMA competition in January with a unanimous decision win over Jason Trzewieczynski at Raging Wolf VI. The fighter remains under contract with the UFC, but has been granted permission to fight in smaller promotions before returning to the big stage.
It’s not currently known how many fights it will take before he is recalled, but the experience he gets from this will no doubt stand him in good stead when he arrives back in the UFC’s competitive lightweight division.
Hill won’t be the only familiar face at the XKL event however, as three former UFC fighters, Jeff Monson, Vinny Magalhaes and Ricco Rodriguez also feature on the PPV card.
