Scott Coker has revealed that women’s middleweight champion Cristiane ‘Cyborg’ Santos will defend her title against Jan Finney at the Strikeforce: Fedor Vs Werdum event on June 26th.

Originally Santos was expected to face Erin Toughill (10-2-1), but a breakdown in communications between the promotion and the former boxer has forced Strikeforce to make alternative arrangements.

The trouble is that there’s not an abundance of other talented fighters out there who can challenge the dominant Brazilian’s reign at 145lbs.

That has left Strikeforce with Finney, who is on a four fight win streak, but is carrying  an overall  record of 8-7 and already holds losses to the aforementioned Toughill as well as another of Cyborg’s previous victims Shayna Baszler and current Strikeforce fighter Meisha Tate.

The fact that Finney is also better suited to fighting at 135lbs only adds to the feeling that her chances of emerging with a victory in this bout are slim at best.  Still it is a major opportunity for the Ohio native, so you can’t blame her for accepting  the challenge.

Meanwhile, in related news Cristiane’s husband Evangalista ‘Cyborg’ Stantos is expected to fight DREAM welterweight champion Mariusz Zaromskis 10 days earlier at Strikeforce L.A on June 16th.
