Cung Le Plans To Fight Again In the UFC In 2012

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le has always been a crowd-pleasing fighter thanks to his eye-catching striking style and in his UFC debut against Wanderlei Silva he certainly entertained with a ‘Fight Of The Night’ performance, though ultimately lost by knockout.

After that defeat a big question mark hung over the 39 year-old’s future in the sport. With a nice sideline in martial-arts based acting roles taking up much of his time would now be the time to hang up his gloves, or did the veteran fighter still have a desire to compete in the Octagon?

Well, his acting career is certainly still very much in his plans – in fact he’s revealed that he has three movies coming out in 2012, but the good news for his fans is that he does still want to fight too.

This week after being informed that he had won two UFC Twitter bonuses totalling $10,000 for being one of the four fighters with the “most followers” and “biggest percentage of growth” in followers during the last quarter, Le informed fans, “I’ll be ready to fight soon!”

It’s good to hear that Le isn’t retiring just yet. His fight with Silva was highly competitive, and in fact he had the Brazilian in a lot of bad spots in the bout before ‘The Axe Murderer’ finally rallied late in the second round.

While he’s not going to be a title threat in the middleweight division there’s definitely still a fun fight or two still for him there, though at this stage there’s no indication of who his opponent would be.
