Dan Miller Is The Latest UFC Fighter To Switch Division’s, Moving Down To 170lbs

Apparently the biggest trend in the UFC right now is for fighters to switch weight classes, and the latest to do so is Dan Miller who’s set to move from middleweight to welterweight.

The promotion have announced that his first encounter at 170lbs will be against Ricardo Funch at ‘UFC On FX 4’ on June 22nd.

It’s a move that makes sense on paper as Miller, brother of highly ranked UFC lightweight fighter Jim, certainly isn’t the biggest middleweight around and he’s been struggling to make headway in the division, losing his last two fights in a row, and going 2-5 overall since a promising start to his UFC career which saw him win three consecutive bouts.

As for Funch, he’s lost all three of his previous UFC fights so this could well be the Last Chance Saloon for the 31 year-old Brazilian.

Miller joins Demian Maia as a recent covert to the welterweight ranks, while the void he leaves behind will be filled by Rich Franklin who’s dropping back down to the middleweight division after a stint at light-heavyweight.
