Dana White Admits An Interest In Signing Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller

Strikeforce star Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller recently revealed that he has just one fight left on his current contract with the promotion.

When UFC president Dana White was asked at yesterday’s fan Q&A in Canada whether he would be interested in picking up the host of MTV’s ‘Bully Beatdown’ show he appeared open to the idea.

“Yeah, I think so,” White confirmed. “He lost to Georges St.Pierre a long time ago, that was his last fight in the UFC, and yeah, we’ll see what happens. Listen, we’re always interested in bringing in the best guys in the world, so, we’ll see.”

The UFC recently swooped for one of Mayhem’s biggest rivals, Jake Shields when his Strikeforce contract ended earlier this year, and White’s comments suggest the same thing could happen with the popular 29 year-old middleweight fighter.

As White alluded to in his response Miller has fought in the UFC once before, losing to GSP at 170lbs back at UFC 52 in 2005. He also fought for the WEC once in 2007, picking up a win over Katsuyori Shibata.

Mayhem’s career record currently stands at 24-7 (1nc) and he’s picked up two wins over Tim Stout and Kazushi Sakuraba in Strikeforce and DREAM respectively in 2010.

As things stands Mayhem has been looking to close out his current Strikeforce deal by fighting current welterweight champion Nick Diaz, but disagreements over what weight the bout should be fought at appears to have left the fight in limbo.

  1. “Yeah, I think so,” White confirmed. “He lost to Georges St.Pierre a long time ago, that was his last fight in the UFC, and yeah, we’ll see what happens. Listen, we’re always interested in bringing in the best guys in the world, so, we’ll see.”

How the f*ck do you get “Dana White Admits An Interest In Signing Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller” from the above comment?

  2. Fan asks: Mayhem has one fight left on his contract, do you think he’d be a good addition to the UFC?

Dana Replies: “Yeah, I think so,” and then implies Mayhem is the caliber of fighter they are looking to bring into the UFC.

Seems pretty clear to me. He said pretty much the same thing prior to Jake Shields joining.

  3. Reporter: “Dana, have you guys ever thought about holding an event on the moon.”

DW: “The moon? Sure, that’s a market we’re definitely interested in.”

Headline the next day: “Zuffa set to host first ever interplanetary event on the moon”

  4. I think you might be right Pronoun. Thousands of people have now read this story, it’s now been linked to by other major MMA sites and yet SHORT_BUS is the only guy who can’t see the wood for the trees.

Dana and Mayhem have had a somewhat adversarial relationship for some time now, so for him to suddenly acknowledge for the first time that he is someone the UFC would be interested in signing, just as Mayhem’s contract with Strikeforce is about to expire, is definitely newsworthy.

  5. I can confirm I do not want to fight for the UFC at this time in my career. I’m still waiting for that Bitch Diaz to sign the contract.

  6. Yes, shortbus, please fight amongst your family or do whatever it is you do in order to cause friction, but do it elsewhere.
Reporter asks Tuff: Would you be able to broadcast on the moon (do you have the money, interest, and capability)?

    Tuff: Yes, I think so.

No, not concrete, but the latter quite clearly exhibits an interest. Why do people enjoy argument, especially an argument just for the sake of arguing? Also, GSP will dismantle Koscheck.

  7. Shortbus totally rides the shortbus… You are officially the stupidest person that has read this article yet congratulations, FYI Dana quite clearly states his interest in mayhem.
