There was a bit of good news today for fans of Alistair Overeem after Dana White confirmed that they are in contract negotiations with the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion and current DREAM and K-1 title holder.

According to White it’s not time to start cracking open the champagne bottles yet though.

“We are not even close to a deal with Allistar but we are working on it,” White told fans on the UG forum today.

Overeem himself has also been continuing to indicate that he would be willing to sign with the UFC if a satisfactory deal can be struck with the sport’s leading promotion.

“If we can find common ground, we can work together, and if we can’t, then we’re going to depart,” Overeem tells MMABay. “I want to fight in the UFC. They have the best guys, but it has to be at the right terms. So, we’re just going to have to wait and see.”
