As we reported earlier, UFC star Tito Ortiz was arrested today for suspected domestic abuse of his partner Jenna Jameson.
Speaking to the TMZ website UFC president Dana White admitted that the situation could have implications for the fighters future in the organization.
“We’re gonna be fair, but we could cut him,” he admitted.
Naturally the UFC will wait until they hear the full story for making any decisions, but White, who’s had a volatile relationship with Ortiz in the past, made it clear that he would take a dim view on the alleged charges.
“Other than going on a killing spree, being accused of domestic violence is the worst thing you can have going for you,” he stated.
This is a delicate situation for the UFC with Tito Ortiz being one of their most famous stars, and the fighter currently fronting the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV.
Given the media attention that this story is likely to generate, and the potential negative view it could cast on the sport as a whole it will certainly not be a surprise if Ortiz is indeed released from his contract if it is indeed confirmed that the allegations are true.
