Dana White UFC On FX 5 Post-Fight Interview

After ‘UFC On FX 5’ Dana White spoke to Ariel Helwani about both the event and some behind-the-scenes drama that unfolded on the day of the event.

– Dana confirms that Travis Browne blew out his hamstring early in his main event fight with Antonio Silva. He still credits Silva for finishing the fight though, pointing out that other fighters in the past have managed to get through a whole bout with a bad injury.

– The UFC president was again unhappy with fans for booing the flyweight fight on the main card.

– Addressing the fact that Jeremy Stephens Vs Yves Edwards was cancelled despite White having assured fans that it would be taking place, White had the following to say:

He was informed that Stephens had been arrested on an assault charge at around 10.30am yesterday. Apparently Stephens had a warrant out for his arrest in Iowa. White personally went down to the station to try to post bail for him and was confident that he would still be able to fight.

White made a deal with them, but basically they messed him around several times attempting to change the deal, then reneged on the agreement.

Based on how the whole thing played out White predicts that Stephens is going to be in a lot of trouble when he’s extradited to Iowa as he believes the Iowa police have it in for him there.

– Finally, Dana confirms that Dennis Hallman was released for failing to make weight on Friday for his fight at the event. He says the fighter is having personal problems and so they did pay him both his show and win money before his release.
