Daniel Cormier’s place in the final of the Strikeforce heavyweight grand-prix was thrown into doubt on Saturday night following his suprise victory over Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva when he revealed that he had hurt his right hand and feared that it might be broken.
At the time Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker stated that Cormier’s continued participation in the tournament could hinge on the extent of the damage to the fighter’s hand.
Today on his Twitter account Cormier revealed the extent of the damage.
“Just got done seeing Dr. Hand is broken will be on the shelf 4 a while. Still looking forward to finishing tourney. Thx 4 support. DC”
It’s believed that the injury will keep Cormier out of action for 6-8 weeks which means that he should still be able to compete against Josh Barnett in the final as it’s expected to be held in Febuary of 2012.
