Daniel Cormier took to Twitter yesterday to declare that he had floored luke Rockhold in training, though he’s since claimed that he was just messing around.
“Took 7 years but I am officially a beast,” Cormier stated. “Today I dropped @LukeRockhold :) feeling like a 2 division champ lol jk :)”
Rockhold responded by retweeting a comment from a fan to Cormier’s original statement that read, “You’re about as funny as john Jones is sober.”
Cormier continued to tease his team-mate, writing, “Hahaha. Rockhold just remember what happens in the room between brothers stays there. I didn’t give details lol.”
“The power of your big toe to my right heel was too much force for me to withstand, had to take a seat,” Rockhold replied. “That “bigfoot” power is back.”
“All I have to do is blow on people to knock em out lol,” Cormier wrote. “Great training today. For the record I didn’t drop Luke lol”
Apparently Cormier’s bitter rival Jon Jones didn’t get the memo that this was all in good fun however, and he reposted Cormier’s original post with the comment, “douche.”
He’s since removed that post, though he also took several digs at Cormier in response to questions from fans, saying that his upcoming opponent , “consistently fails when he’s up against greatness,” and added that, “he’s not even a one division champ #BeltSitter.”
Cormier had the last word on this occasion though.
“Ur really getting dropped!” DC responded.
The two will look to settle their difference in the main event of UFC 200 on July 9th in Las Vegas, while Rockhold is also heading in to a rematch with Chris Weidman at UFC 199 a month earlier.
