Daniel Cormier Wants To Fight At UFC On FOX Sports 1 Event

Fresh from his debut victory in the UFC last month, Daniel Cormier has stated that he now wants to fight at ‘UFC On FOX Sports 1’ which takes place on August 17th.

“I want to fight on the first card on FOX Sports 1 in Boston on August 17,” Cormier stated while co-hosting Fuel TV’s coverage of ‘UFC On FX 8’ on Saturday night. “And I hope my man Chael Sonnen is fighting Wanderlei Silva next to me. Put us on the card, boss!”

Cormier has been contemplating a move down to the light-heavyweight division since switching to the UFC earlier this year, but it looks for the time being he’s sticking at heavyweight.

The former Strikeforce heavyweight Grand-Prix winner has previously stated that he’d be interested in fighting Roy Nelson, and ‘Big Country’ is currently without an opponent, though has indicated he’s reluctant to take on the bout, believing it doesn’t make a lot of sense for him at this time.

Incidentally, there’s still a big question mark hovering over the aforementioned Sonnen Vs Silva bout at the FS1 event with Sonnen claiming that he’s now set his sights on other targets, claiming that ‘The Axe-Murderer’ just doesn’t want to fight him.

That could just be posturing on his part though, so don’t take that as gospel.

The UFC did promise a major fight card for this event though, so they are going to have to start putting their money where their mouth is soon.
