Earlier today we reported that Demain Maia had been scratched from his headline bout at UFN 22 with Alan Belcher after his opponent pulled out due to a detached retina. In their place a bout originally scheduled for UFC 118 between Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares was then set.
Now it turns out that Maia will now take their place on the UFC 118 card which takes place on August 28th against fellow Brazilian Mario Miranda.
Miranda is currently 1-1 in the UFC after losing in his March debut to Gerald Harris before bouncing back with a TKO win over David Loiseau at UFC 115, taking his pro-record to 10-1.
Maia meanwhile holds a 12-2 record, with recent losses to two of the 185lb division’s best – Anderson Silva and Nate Marquardt – the only blemishes on his CV.
UFC 118 is headlined by the lightweight title rematch between BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar with Randy Couture Vs James Toney in the co-main event slot.
