Destinations have today been announced for a number of upcoming UFC and Strikeforce events in the second half of 2011.
First up the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand-Prix semi-finals on September 10th will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio.
As we learned earlier this week Alistair Overeem won’t be featuring after he was withdrawn due to an injury, so that leaves Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva to face his replacement Daniel Cormier, while Josh Barnett will fight Sergei Kharitanov on the same night for a spot in the final.
Onto UFC matters and the recently announced ‘UFC On Versus 6’ (AKA ‘UFC Live 6) event on October 1st is now set for The Verizon Center in Washington D.C.
So far the main event has not been established, but it is known that amongst the fight on show will be a rematch between Mac Danzig and Matt Wiman, plus a welterweight contest between Charlie Brenneman and Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson.
Finally,it’s been confirmed that UFC 138 on November 5th will take place in Birmingham, England at the 16,000 seater LG Arena at the National Exhibition Centre.
The card has been quickly filling up for this one, with Chris Leben Vs Mark Munoz taking headline duties, while Thiago Alves will also feature along with a number of UK fighters such as Brad Pickett, John Hathaway and Terry Etim.
