Donald Cerrone Taps Out Edson Barboza In The First Round At UFC On FOX 11

Donald Cerrone had to weather an early storm against Edson Barboza tonight at UFC On FOX 11, but was then able to drop the Brazilian and finish him by submission.

Round One:

Barboza unleashing a barrage of punches straight away and has Cerrone in trouble with a right hand. Cerrone goes for a takedown in response, but Barboza is up quickly and they go back to the stand-up.

Barboza with a nice front kick to the body and a right hook. Hard leg kick from the Brazilian too as he keeps up the early pressure.

Cerrone with a nice right hand and Barboza with a kick. Cerrone with a kick of his own and then he checks one from his opponent.

Barboza uncorks a few big punches. Cerrone’s ok, but then eats a spinning kick to the body. Barboza continuing his excellent early workrate with a body kick.

Cerrone lands a solid left jab that catches Barboza off-guard and drops him. Cerrone immediately pounces on his opponent on the mat, takes his back and sinks in a tight rear-naked choke.

Great reactions and technique from Cerrone and he forces the frantic tap from Barboza!

Cerrone was definitely coming off second best in the stand-up until that moment, but he did very well to seize the moment to change the whole course of the fight when it was presented to him.
