A virtually guaranteed ‘Fight Of The Night’ match-up between lightweight contenders Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz is being lined up for the end of year UFC 141 event on December 30.
Cerrone, who’s already gone 4-0 this year since joining the UFC from the WEC, told Joe Rogan after his latest victory against Dennis Siver on Saturday night that he wanted to fight again in December and it appears that wish has been granted.
Diaz, who made an impressive return to the lightweight division with a first round victory over Takanori Gomi recently following a stint at welterweight, will be his toughest opponent so far in the UFC however, and with both men possessing a similar skill-set it’s hard to predict how this one will go.
Cerrone and Diaz have an uncanny knack for putting on exciting fights. Though he’s only fought four times for the promotion ‘Cowboy’ has already snapped up a ‘Fight Of The Night,’ a ‘Knockout Of The Night and a ‘Submission Of The Night’ award, while Diaz owns four ‘Fight Of The Night’ awards and three ‘Submission Of The Night’ bonuses.
UFC 141 will be headlined by a heavyweight blockbuster fight between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem, while Cerrone and Diaz is expected to form part of the evening’s main card.
