In the wee hours of Sunday morning after UFC 104 has been and gone there will be yet more MMA action taking place as DREAM 12 gets underway in Japan. In a first for the promotion the event will see their traditional ring replaced with an all white cage.

Sadly it’s not the most exciting DREAM card we’ve ever seen. Alistair Overeem is on the card, but he’s taking on Pride veteran James Thompson who is on a dreadful run currently, having lost eight of his last 10 bouts. Nothing less than a dominating win is expected for Overeem here in a rather meaningless encounter.

Paul Filho was due to take on Yoon Dong Sik but that bout has since been canceled after Filho encountered visa problems.

More competitive can be found elsewhere on the card, such as Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez taking on Katsunori Kikuno who is on a nine fight win streak.

Meanwhile Chase Beeb who was at the centre of a controversial decision at the start of the month when a fight he clearly won was awarded in favor of his opponent Mike Easton (the match has since been changed to a No Contest) will face Yoshuro Maeda who lost out in the quarter finals of the featherweight grand-prix to Hiroyuki Takaya.
