DREAM’s New Year Event Rumored To Feature Fedor Emelianenko

It’s been a relatively quiet year for DREAM in 2011, but they plan to end it with a bang as they prepare to continue with their tradition of holding a New Year’s extravaganza, and it’ll be aired live on HDNet on December 31st.

There’s been plenty of changes over in the MMA landscape in Japan in recent months and that means this won’t be a Dynamite!! show as in previous years, and it’s also being reported that there may even be some pro-wrestling bouts mixed in with the ‘real’ fights.

If that’s not your thing then don’t rule the event out yet as it is also rumored that Russian heavyweight star Fedor Emelianenko will feature in an MMA fight, while Japanese star Shinya Aoki will also fight on the card.

Fedor beat Jeff Monson at the weekend in Russia, his first victory in two years. Since then there’s been talk that Satoshi Ishi was being discussed as a potential opponent for him.

The outlook for DREAM also looks a little healther in 2012 as they are expected to officially announce a partnership with burgeoning new promotion ONE FC soon which will offer up the possibility of co-promotion and fighter sharing.
