Lightweights Evan Dunham and Shamar Bailey will meet at September 17th’s UFC Fight Night 25 event which is being dubbed ‘The Battle On The Bayou’ as part of a special promo with Bud Light.

Dunham was until recently considered one of the 155lb weight classes top contenders after putting together an impressive four-fight winning streak.  He’s since hit a rough patch however, losing his last two fights to Sean Sherk and Melvin Guillard.

And so, after meeting a string of high ranking opposition it appears that the UFC have chosen to pair him up on this occasion with someone further down the lightweight ladder.

That’s where Bailey comes in, fresh from The Ultimate Fighter season 13 where he reached the quarter-final stages.  He has since made his UFC debut at the TUF 13 finale and picked up a win over Ryan McGillverey.

This is a big step up in competition for Bailey and on paper Dunham looks to be the more well-rounded fighter, but a win over him would certainly put his name on the map in this ultra-competitive division.
