On the eve of their latest event in the UK, the UFC have unveiled ex-Manchester City Chief Executive Garry Cook as their new Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Born in the UK, Cook was at the helm at the famous English soccer team Man City between 2008-2011 and before that had a long period working for Nike, including becoming the President of Brand Jordan in 2005.

“Garry is a man with a fantastic record for high-profile achievements in the sports industry with tremendous international experience,” Dana White stated in a press release. “We are confident he will continue the huge developments the UFC has made internationally and lead us to further success.”

Cook himself appeared to be equally pleased with his new role.

“Mixed martial arts is one of the most popular sports globally and to be working in such a dynamic and exciting industry, with the UFC’s talented, passionate and committed staff and athletes, is an honor. I look forward to being a part of the team as they continue to grow internationally.”
