The UFC announced earlier this week that ‘UFC On FOX 6’ will take place on January 26th in Chicago and now we have the headline fight for the show locked in.

For the second FOX show in a row we’re going to be treated to a title fight as flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson looks to defend his title for the first time against TUF winner John Dodson.

I think it’s a smart strategy from the UFC to put the flyweights in a prominent spot on a big show like this. Right now the 125lb division isn’t enough of a draw to pull in decent numbers headlining a pay-per-view, but the exposure that an event on FOX can provide could help turn them into more marketable stars in the future.

From FOX’s point of view not only do they get another title fight to get behind just a month after Ben Henderson and Nate Diaz contest for the lightweight belt at ‘UFC On FOX 5’, but it also offers goof synergy for them since both Johnson and Dodson have had a significant presence on ‘UFC On FX’ cards throughout this year.

Stay tuned to the site as we’ve got more major fight announcement’s for ‘UFC On FOX 6’ coming right up!
