It’s been a while since there was any good news to report about troubled fighter Karo Parisyan, but according to mmafighting’s Ariel Helwani the Judokan is currently in talks with the Strikeforce organization.
While nothing has been officially confirmed it is believed that there is a chance the 27 year-old could be in line to fight at Strikeforce LA in June.
The last few years have been tough for Parisyan (18-5 1nc), who was at one time one of the most talented welterweights in the UFC. Injuries, pain killer addiction, panic attacks and last-minute fight call-offs have damaged the fighters reputation, eventually forcing Dana White to cut him from the roster last year.
Parisyan has since promised that he will turn his life around, and the news that he could potentially be returning to the cage with Strikeforce is certainly a promising development.
The question that will remain though is whether he is truly both physically, and most importantly mentally ready for a return to fighting on the big stage. There’s no doubt he’s a talented fighter who deserves a second chance, but is the timing right?
If it is then Strikeforce have themselves a very welcome addition to their welterweight roster. If it’s not then it’s a big gamble on their part, and one which could potentially backfire.
