Forrest Griffin comes armed with an interesting statistic in his pre-fight promo for UFC 126.

“Since 2001 I haven’t gone a year without a win, at least a win a year. Now I’ve gone a whole year without a fight,” he says.

Injuries have been at the root of his absence, having to nurse a broken foot after his fight with Tito Ortiz at UFC 106, and then suffering a shoulder injury that kept him out for the remainder of 2010.

It’s not an ideal situation for the former champion, and he’s well aware of the need to regain his momentum by getting the better of his next opponent Rich Franklin in the co-main event of UFC 126.

“To me this is a huge fight because I have not won a fight in a year. If I wanna do this, If I wanna be mentioned, if I wanna be in this game and be big cards then I need to win the fight,” he says.
